Workiva, the leading cloud provider of connected data, reporting and compliance solutions, is used by thousands of enterprises across 180 countries, including more than 75 percent of Fortune 500® companies, and by government agencies. Workiva needed a reliable solution for managing containers for more than 50 production workloads that demanded 100% uptime.
In addition to regaining some of their lost development time, they needed an enterprise solution with sophisticated role-based permissioning features to support the complex requirements of government and regulatory agencies.
And lastly, with cloud-based services for customers around the globe, they needed the peace of mind of a 24/7 support channel.
“Our experience has been so easy. Rancher’s ability to tie in with most major single sign-on providers is a huge component for us. And that removed a ton of legwork around trying to figure out how to do this. I installed Rancher, clicked three buttons and we were done, and that’s a value-add we’ve seen immediately.” Matthew Sullivan, Sr. Security Architect
Within just a few weeks, Workiva was able to set up a production-ready installation of Rancher utilizing role-based access control which enabled the Automated Tooling teams to prepare their integrations for an automatic deployment.
Rancher was able to offer Workiva a reliable solution with the same user-friendliness of their previous in-house platform they had built to manage their clusters, without having to write a single line of code. Rancher offered enterprise-grade role-based access control for multiple users to run on multiple environments, and most importantly, freed up developers’ time to accelerate their software development.
“We already understood the advantages of containerized microservices and have used Docker containers for nearly four years. With our move to Kubernetes, we needed an industrial-strength orchestration layer. Rancher provides us with the orchestration of microservice container deployment into multiple Kubernetes clusters and gives us visibility into the health status of those environments.” Steven Osborne, Senior Product Development Manager
